Samsung Galaxy A50 may be the first smartphone of 2019

The current market leader is expected to introduce the first Android smartphone of 2019 during the CES 2019 event. Indeed, we now know that there is indeed a new “A” series smartphone on the way. For now it is only known as Samsung Galaxy A50, a smartphone with the model number SM-A505FN.

This same Android smartphone had already been referred to over the past week on more than one occasion. However we also saw the first information allusive to the Galaxy M20, a possible companion for this mid-range segment.

However, this time the information comes to us through the platform of tests and benchmarks known by Geekbench. We therefore have no reason to doubt its credibility in the light of its reliability record.

Well, first of all we have several technical specifications as well as the results of the performance test on the Samsung Galaxy A50. Something that we will cover in detail in the following article.

Looking at the data provided by Geekbench, arriving at us through the publication GizmoChina, we thus know partially the terminal. First we can advance that the Samsung Galaxy A50 uses the Android operating system Pie, the 9th version of this OS by Google.

Secondly we have the clear indication of your processor or chipset, the Exynos 9610 manufactured by Samsung itself. In short, we have here a powerful mid-range SoC, announced earlier this year of 2018.

To this is added a total of 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Value that can be extended through a microSD memory card, as is already customary in this Android manufacturer. However, this last point needs confirmation.

The operating system is Android Pie 9.0

Thirdly, the Samsung Galaxy A50 uses Samsung’s own interface, its Experience UI based on Android Pie. In short, its performance will not be a problem thanks to this eight-core (eight-core) chipset manufacturer according to the 10nm process.

More specifically we have here four Cortex-A73 cores with a maximum frequency of 2.3GHz inside the Exynos 9610. We also have four Cortex-A53 cores with frequencies of 1.6Ghz. However, this SoC also has the second-generation Mali-G72 graphics.

In short, it is a fairly balanced processor and perfectly capable of providing us with a good performance. Its results at Geekbench prove this as well as being a modest processor in energy consumption.

That is, this processor has an “extra core”, designed to perform tasks such as Always-on mode. More concretely it is a Cortex-M4F core that thus avoids the “wake-up” of the main processor for secondary tasks.

Secondly, at the level of curiosities, we can highlight the video recording in slow motion. More concretely at 480 frames per second (fps) as well as the possibility of recording in Full-HD 1080p.

In sum, this is expected to be one of the first Android smartphones to be launched in 2019. Moreover, this Samsung Galaxy A50 will also be one of the first (if not the first) to use the Exynos 9610 processor.

I also recall that this same processor / SoC / chipset was introduced by Samsung last March. Its processing power is obvious. In fact, it was proven by the score of 4897 points in the multi-core tests and 1681 points in the single-core tests.

In short, this Samsung processor will be similar in performance to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636. However, this new Exynos was able to score higher on single-core tests. Something that will not be noticeable to the end user.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 should be introduced early next year. Incidentally, it could be the first Android smartphone of this brand to be officially presented and reaching the world markets. However, we do not know exactly which markets to target.

In a final note, based on the rumors this Galaxy A50 may be available in various colors. Here from Black, White, Silver as well as Pink and Blue ..
